CNBLUE has debuted on the big screen. Their debut was in an omnibus film
"Acoustic", a film with music theme. Together with
Shin Sekyung, and
2AM’s Im Seulong, they had been a popular topic in the Pusan International Film Festival this year.
“I was casted first, and felt comfortable because my role was a guitarist and vocalist. I’ was wondering who will take the role for the drummer,and I was relieved it was Kang Minhyuk from our band.” (Lee Jonghyun)
(In “Acoustic) they are members of a band called
‘Taj Mahal’ and were so poor. Older brother Seongwon the guitarist (Lee Jonghyun) had to sell his guitar for their necessities, but his younger brother Haewon, who is the drummer (Kang Minhyuk) messed things up, because he was distracted by a “bread” and lost the guitar. Lee Jonghyun potrayed a
charismatic type character, and Kang MinHyuk was so
frustrated to act like a
real spoiled little brother.Kang MinHyuk said it was
too challenging for him because his
real character is different.“The first time I got the scenario, I went blank. I couldn’t act as Haewon naturally,so I just tried to
speak like a fool, and it was awkward.” Next was Lee Jonghyun “Minhyuk is not a
glutton (one who eats a lot) nor a
foolish type, he’s the
most quiet member,” he said. Instead, the “Busan man” Lee Jonghyun was
suffering because of the
accent.“I have thick accent, I didn’t even think about to fix it. Yonghwa Hyung is from same hometown, so he helped me to correct my accent. He said I should speak with a flat (一) accent, but the more I do it, my accent got even weirder, I had to
press my floating accent. Haha.” They have had a hard experience and suffering as a band prior to their debut, hence it showed in their acting.

CNBLUE was named
“Pine Tree” before our debut. It meant strong and has a long life like a pine tree. We would be in a big trouble if we had to go by that name (laughs). No one believed(what we had to go through before our debut),we
didn’t even have money and starved for two days. I was 58 kg back then.” (Kang Minhyuk)
Lee Jonghyun added “I was 58kg too. In Japan, next to the studio there was a convenience store, after midnight they would give
expired bread for free (to us). (We went) through a hard time, but now we’re to open large-scale concerts in Japan and other Asian countries. However, the Pusan International Film Festival is our first experience.”
“I shook hands and enjoyed the red carpet, but Jonghyun Hyung looked very nervous and walked so fast, I was so surprised.” (Kang Minhyuk). Lee Jonghyun
practised for the red carpet in the hotel room but it was useless. The camera didn’t captured them, as there was a Chinese actress Tang Wei. Next time, they will check the order beforehand to lessen their nervousness.
“We are waiting to hear feedbacks on our performances,” both in acting and singing and also for their future plans. Kang MinHyuk will be starring in the SBS drama
“It’s Alright, Daddy’s Daughter”, his role is as a young boy who had one sided love.

Lee Jonghyun want to try an action genre, like ‘Into the Fire‘ a war movie by TOP who can
speaks with accent. (lol, so his main reason is so that he can speak in accent. Too cute!)
